McDonald's Kinderhilfe Deutschland was founded in 1987 as part of the internationally active Ronald McDonald House Charities. The idea of enabling sick children to be close to their parents was born in the USA in 1973 when Kim Hill, daughter of American football player Fred Hill of the Philadelphia Eagles, was diagnosed with leukemia. Today, there are 365 Ronald McDonald Houses in 43 countries worldwide.
The first German Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in Kiel in 1990. The McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation now operates 22 Ronald McDonald Houses near children's hospitals throughout Germany, providing a temporary home for families of seriously ill children. Every year, 6,500 families throughout Germany receive help and support. In a Ronald McDonald House, parents and siblings of seriously ill children find a temporary home that gives them a sense of security and a little normality.
It is a matter close to our hearts and that of our company to be able to support McDonald's Kinderhilfe in Leipzig. In addition to a monetary donation, the families of sick children can stay in our LÉGÈRE EXPRESS Leipzig if the Ronald McDonald House Leipzig is fully occupied and no apartment is available.
